If you own an Audi, you may be at risk for potential vehicle safety issues. Over 500,000 Audis have recently been involved in two separate recalls.
The first recall in effect for certain Audi models is a potential coolant pump problem. A blockage near the coolant pump causes localized overheating, posing a fire risk. Volkswagon has developed a fix for the affected models that would interrupt power to the coolant pump if localized overheating is detected, and an indicator light will make the vehicle owner aware of the problem.
The second recall in effect for certain Audi models involves potential airbag rupture issues. On affected vehicles, the water drainage system for the panoramic sunroof could allow moisture into the airbag canister. Moisture can then begin to corrode the airbag inflator, causing early airbag rupture without any type of collision. Volkswagon intends to inspect the side head airbag canister and the water drainage system for the panoramic sunroof on affected models. Depending on the presence of moisture, the airbag inflator will be replaced or sealed with wax in order to repair the problem.
