Did you know that June is National Safety Month? In effort to prevent common accidents, the National Safety Council is calling attention to safety in all areas of life, from ready response and being healthy to watching for dangers and sharing the road safely.

Because of the high number of claims our auto accident attorneys handle, we think it’s especially important to encourage drivers to share the road safely. Here are a few safe driving tips:

  • Drive defensively – Remember to keep your hands at ten-and-two, use your mirrors, look both ways a few times before pulling out into traffic, signal early and often, and follow the speed limit.
  • Watch for smaller vehicles – Motorcycles are especially hard to see in traffic, so look more than once before changing lanes or turning. Now that it’s summer, more bicyclists will be on the roads too, so be alert.
  • Be aware of larger vehicles – Commercial trucks and buses cannot stop nor maneuver as quickly as passenger vehicles. Be sure to give them plenty of room when they are changing lanes, merging and stopping.
  • Put down your cell phone – Distracted driving is a leading cause of auto accidents. Make phone calls or send texts before you leave or after you arrive.

Even when you practice safe driving, accidents can still happen. If you are injured in an auto accident, it’s important to have an experienced attorney to help you navigate the legal process. The attorneys at the Duncan Firm have the legal knowledge and understanding to make sure you are well represented in any accident case.
